We will be looking at all types of Measurements in Chapter 5. When you finish the chapter, you should be able to:
5.1 Convert from one unit of measure in the English system to another.
5.2 Convert from one unit of measure in the metric syastem to another.
5.3 Find the areas of common geometric figures.
5.4 Find the volumes of common gemotric figures.
Lets begin with Unit 5.1 "The English System of Weights and Measures". This section is divided into four parts---length, capacity, weight, and time. Begin by reading pages 143-148 and then explore the following web sites to expand your knowledge of measuremant.
http://www.unc.edu/~rowlett/units/
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Measurement
http://www.funbrain.com/measure/

Statistics: Mean Mode, Median, and Range

This week you will find the mean, mode, median, and range of a set of data. As you find the mean, or average, of sets of data, observe that the mean may not be a member of the set. The mode is not a very useful measure since many sets of data have several modes. A set of data with two modes is called bimodal. The median is the middle point of a group of numbers. The range is the differance between the greatest and least numbers in a set of numbers.

Todays assignment:
1) Read Section 4.2 Statistics: Mean, Mode, Median, and Range
2) Complete Discussions Questions on page 121
3) Locate some real world examples of Statistics and report your findings
in a 2 page report.
4) Invistigate http://www.mathleague.com/help/data/data.htm
5) Invistigate http://www.apples4theteacher.com/math.html

Welcome

Welcome to my WTAMU edublog for EDT 6370 "Integrating Computers into the Curriculum".
